Name: Ken-ichi Sato
Position: Professor
Research Description:
Cell Signaling and Development.
Research in our laboratory deals with the molecular and cellular basis of fertilization and activation of development with the use of egg and sperm of African clawed frog, Xenopus laevis, as a model system. Another topic is the biological functions of cancer cells, especially an anti-apoptosis mechanism in certain kinds of human carcinomas. In both themes, our special interests go to such key points as tyrosine kinase Src, tyrosine phosphorylation, molecular interactions, transmembrane receptors, membrane microdomains or rafts, and signal transduction.
