Description: |
To generate original lines of mice expressing Brainbow in neurons, the Brainbow-1 and Brainbow-2 constructs were placed under the control of regulatory elements from the Thy1 gene (murine), which are known to drive expression at high levels in a variety of neuron types. In Brainbow transgenes, Cre/lox recombination is used to create a stochastic choice of expression between three or more fluorescent proteins (XFPs): RFP fluorescence; YFP and/or memCFP fluorescence after Cre-mediated recombination. |
Phenotype Description: |
Visualizes synaptic circuits through multiple fluorescent markers, in combination. Default state is ubiquitous whole cell red fluorescence. Following Cre induced recombination cells will have whole cell yellow or whole cell cyan fluorescence. |
